It’s Not Even Tournament Time And Things Are Already Getting Crazy

It’s all fun and games but the committee’s work just got way harder.

It’s March now and that means that intensity has picked up around the nation and we’re already starting to see upsets.

On Saturday the seedings probably got more complicated for the Selection Committee. Consider:

Indiana, a team that’s been inexplicably awful for much of the season, has three wins since January 6th: Michigan State, Wisconsin and Michigan State again on Saturday.

Johnny Dawkins’ UCF team knocked off Houston 69-64.

Utah State beat Nevada, the second loss for the Wolf Pack since February 20th. This game featured a a post-game hall brawl that almost got really ugly and which - well, you can see the video, but it’s got some rather intense language and one player punching out a glass-covered fire extinguisher case.

Don't sneak a peek at church or work. There may be some suspensions to come out of this.

It wasn’t an upset but Tennessee’s win over Kentucky may scramble Kentucky’s hope for a #1 seed. This comes on the heels of the recent loss to LSU. How will it affect both teams? We don’t see both of them getting a #1 seed.

It’s not quite as big but also on Saturday, Texas knocked off Iowa State and Rutgers knocked off Iowa 86-72 as suspended coach Fran McCaffrey watched the game on TV with suspended radio play-by-play man.

On Friday, Cal absolutely shocked the wretched PAC-12 by upsetting #25 Washington.

Cal was 5-22 coming in.

All of these game are going to scramble the standings and make for an interesting job for the committee.
