NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Duke vs North Dakota State

Now that the field is cut in half, a lot of pretenders are gone and a lot more will be gone in a few hours, probably starting with Maryland. LSU seems to have adapted to not having Will Wade and looked imposing Thursday. We’ll take them to advance.

Next up is an amazing game to consider - could Wofford upset Kentucky? Look at it this way: who is more capable of heating up from deep than the Terriers? They were extraordinary when they closed out the game with Seton Hall. People have joked about Duke turning a switch this year - Wofford really did. It was incredible to see a team throw up points that fast.

Could they pull it off Saturday? Well, it’s a bit easier if PJ Washington sits out. Then again, Ashton Hagans is a superb defender and he’ll attach himself to Fletcher Magee. Three pointers negate size but as much as we’d like to see it we think UK will win.

Florida over Michigan would be a considerable upset. Don't bet on it.

Now we get to a fun one....Murray State vs. Florida State. Ja Morant tied Marquette in knots but FSU has the athletes to get out in the passing lanes and overall, not many teams are as athletic.

Can Morant overcome it all? Possibly. But until we see it, we’re sticking with FSU.

Big fast Gonzaga should crush smallish Baylor. Next!

Hmmm....wily old Tom Izzo’s team is decimated by injuries but he’s been here plenty and young Richard Pitino has not. So we’ll give the edge to Izzo.

As we saw the other day, Purdue really hasn’t been much of a tournament team. So take Villanova, which has.

Wow, Auburn-Kansas. We’ll stick with the blue blood here.
