In Sunday’s only ACC game Boston College beat Miami 64-57.
Boston College has shown a certain resilience this year that’s quite admirable. Saturday Ky Bowman had a 102 degree ever and while he played his usual ironman minutes, he only scored six points and shot just 3-11. He did have eight rebounds and eight assists however.
Jordan Chatman hit for 17 and Nik Popovic had 15 points and 14 rebounds. Yes, it’s against Miami and yes the Hurricanes have a limited frontcourt but that doesn’t take away from the fact that the young big man has continued to improve.
Boston College is just 13-11 but that team has shown some real heart. As we’ve said before, Jim Christian has shown a knack for finding underapprecaited talent and then developing it. We hope his bosses appreciate the considerable skills he has shown even if his record doesn’t reflect it.
Compare what he’s done in a tough situation to what Danny Manning has done. BC is immensely more impressive.
Only one game on Monday and it’s between rivals Virginia and Virginia Tech. We’d feel a lot better about the Hokies if Justin Robinson was playing but we don't expect him to and certainly he won’t be 100%.
Virginia crushed Virginia Tech in Charlottesville, winning by 22.
Still, it won’t surprise us at all if it’s a close game and while an upset would be a tall order, emotions run high in rivalry games so don’t rule it out just yet. But don’t be on it.
