No one really thinks about this but with every victory Duke earns, Mike Krzyzewski breaks his own NCAA D-1 record for career wins.

Well he’s got one more milestone to surpass and that’s on deck: Coach K currently sits at 1,121 wins, which is second for all-time wins in every collegiate divison - D-I, D-II, D-III and NAIA and both men’s and women’s.

He trails Harry Statham, who retired from D-II’s McKendree after last season, by one game.

Can you imagine? You retire with an incredible career achievement, an astounding number of wins that took a half a century to compile...and it’s eclipsed the next year.

So the next victory will tie that record and the one following that will put Mick from Chicago in a place where no one else has ever been. What an amazing journey.
