Didn’t see this coming but maybe it’s understandable: if - and it’s a big if - Boston manages to pull off a blockbuster trade for Pelican star Anthony Davis, former Duke star Jayson Tatum reportedly wouldn’t mind being shipped to the Big Easy.
Apparently he likes the idea of being featured more prominently.
Two things here: first, being on a bad team, or worse a poorly run one, is awful. We still remember Danny Manning greeting Danny Ferry as a Clipper in the Donald Sterling era and saying “welcome to hell.”
Second, while Boston has the most assets to make a deal - almost any deal really, considering the package of young talent and draft picks available - it all hinges on Davis’s willingness to stay in Boston. The Celtics will presumably want a sign-and-trade or some serious commitment from Davis before they make any deal. As great as he is, you can’t trade the future of your franchise for one season.
On the bright side, he’d still have members of the Brotherhood for teammates since Frank Jackson and Jahlil Okafor are both currently Pelicans.
