North Dakota State v Duke
COLUMBIA, SC - MARCH 22: Jordan Goldwire #14 of the Duke Blue Devils moves the ball against the North Dakota State Bison in the second half during the first round of the 2019 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at Colonial Life Arena on March 22, 2019 in Columbia, South Carolina.

BlueHealers Auctions are set up and ready to go for the 2019-2020 basketball season. The first auction, for tickets to the exhibition game against NW Missouri State (on Saturday, October 26th), ends this Sunday at 11pm Eastern Time. All proceeds again will benefit the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (https://www.paacs.net), an organization that trains physicians as surgeons to care for the poor and the sick.

Due to changes in tax laws, Iron Dukes donations required to purchase season tickets are no longer tax deductible. As a result, BlueHealers will now consider that donation as part of the ticket acquisition cost and the amount of the winning bid to be market value for the combination of the tickets and the Fed-Ex shipping costs. This means that, while auction winners will have the satisfaction of knowing that the donation they make in exchange for the tickets is helping train surgeons to care for people in need, the donations will no longer be tax deductible. BlueHealers regrets this change but could no longer justify the tax burden of the Iron Dukes donation when those tax dollars could instead be given to people in need. We hope that you will respect the motivation behind this difficult decision and will continue to support the BlueHealers auctions.
