Remember when former Blue Devil Kyrie Irving came out and people (some people) thought he wasn’t athletic enough to be an elite NBA player?

It’s an old story: Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Stephen Curry and most recently Luka Doncic heard the same thing. It doesn’t matter.

Well, it does of course, but athleticism is secondary to understanding the physics of the game, how much time you have to calculate fast-closing angles and how much arch you need to get your shot over someone much taller than you, not to mention the overall intelligence to get the ball where you want it and the guts to actually put it there.

Irving is having a career year and one that could possibly see him win league MVP and redefine his career. It’s fun to watch some of his former critics eat their words.
