Official Karl Hess, who the ACC dumped a few years ago after the incidents piled up and in particular after he was basically unable to work NC State games anymore, is back in the news.

Remember Scott Padgett, the former Kentucky forward? He’s now coaching Samford and he’s still 6-9 but pushing closer to 300 lbs. now.

For whatever reason Hess, who was working the Samford-ETSU game, charged at Padgett in an unusually aggressive way for an official.

As Padgett pointed out afterwards, he is 6-9 and close to 300 lbs, and, well, “it’s not a threat.”
