NBA: Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles Clippers
Jan 27, 2019; Los Angeles, CA, USA; Sacramento Kings forward Harry Giles (20) and forward Marvin Bagley III (35) and Los Angeles Clippers center Marcin Gortat (13) reach for a rebound in the first half of the game at Staples Center.

Duke products and current Sacramento Kings Harry Giles and Marvin Bagley exploded against the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday night.

Both came off the bench and Giles scored 20 on 10-12 from the floor and grabbed seven rebounds while Bagley had 17 points on 7-14 from the floor and also grabbed 12 rebounds.

Bagley is off to a better career start, averaging 12.9 ppg and 6.6 rpg and pulling 23 minutes to Giles’ 6 points, 3.3 boards and 12.7 mpg but Giles, still getting past his knee issues, is coming on fast.

Willie Caulie-Stein, despite his great speed and talent, is not a management favorite so in the long run one of the Duke guys may displace him. Games like the ones they put up against Atlanta will only help their cause and build their confidence.

Incidentally, both Bagley and fellow former Devil Jason Tatum will play in the NBA’s Rising Stars game which will be part of All-Star Weekend.
