Whatever happens in March, we’re experiencing what increasingly looks like a historic season of Duke basketball.
There’s a lot more to this team than Zion Williamson, but he’s the public face of it and, indeed, the face of college basketball this season.
So how did his trip to Notre Dame go over?
As we posted on Twitter, “If you want a measure of Duke’s impact this season you could do a lot worse than this: ESPN asked a ND student what he thought would happen and he said he figured Duke would kill the Irish but he would probably get to see some cool stuff from Zion Williamson. Wish granted...“
So how did he go over with the Irish? Other perhaps than John Mooney, who briefly looked like he might have a bone to pick with Williamson, only to change his mind and walk away?
Pretty boffo. Check out what Prentiss Hubb said after he tried to juke Williamson in the lane: “I thought he was a little slower on his feet, because of how big he is. He’s a really great defender, and I didn’t think he could move his feet that quick.”
Learn something new every day.
By the way, it just occurred to us that it’s a real shame that Bonzie Colson graduated last year. That would have been a fun matchup.
