This is getting silly

When you live close to something the perception others have is very different and you probably can’t fully appreciate it.

So for people in the Triangle, Duke’s freshmen are amazing and fun and fresh, but we can’t appreciate the national perspective because it is, after all, local.

So when someone like ESPN’s Myron Medcalf writes something like this, proposing a power ranking of Duke’s players, well, it’s kind of nuts. It does underscore just how big a deal this has become.

Still nuts.

We can appreciate though how it annoys other people, fans of other teams, to have ESPN randomly inject charts and stats about Duke’s freshmen as if they’re the Beatles or something.

Here it’s just cool and wild to watch. Out in the rest of the country though, clearly, it’s become something much, much bigger.
