Bobby Hurley Is Not That Insane

Jeff Goodman is pushing legendary former Duke point guard Bobby Hurley as the guy to take over for Steve Alford at UCLA.

There’s no question that Hurley could do well there. He’s a tremendous basketball mind and has proved at two stops that he can push teams towards greatness.

But why would he want to deal with UCLA’s dreadful problems?

He could never live up to John Wooden (he may have some inkling of this already given who his own father is) and UCLA chews up and spits out coaches on a regular basis.

He’d be much better off building Arizona State up. The Sun Devils have a history of mediocrity which he is directly challenging and the fans are thrilled as are his employers.

Whatever he ends up doing at ASU is all his. That can never be the case at UCLA.

Speaking of UCLA, Dickie Vitale, aka Dickie V, is pushing UCLA to hire Rick Pitino.
