F. Scott Fitzgerald said that “there are no second acts in American lives.”

Obviously he never met former Wake Forest coach Jeff Bzdelik or he might have changed his mind.

After leaving Wake following a fan rebellion, Bzdelik caught on with the Houston Rockets and essentially became their defensive coordinator.

He turned it into a pit bull D and Houston was in position to challenge the almighty Golden State Warriors for the Western Conference championship.

Now he’s ready to call it a career. Wake was an unfortunate blot on his record but he certainly proved he knew what he was doing with the Rockets.

After a very successful stint there, Bzdelik has decided to retire. We have no idea what his plans are but we’d pretty sure he’ll be moving back to Winston-Salem.
