Here’s Barry Jacobs with a timely article about the resilience of great rivalries.

In North Carolina, all the ACC teams hate each other but everyone hates UNC more than anyone else. UNC is not particularly fond of State and of course Duke.

The shame, as far as we’re concerned, is that expansion and scheduling have made Duke and State games in football almost non-existent and basketball rare.

Duke and UNC will be playing for about the 120th time this football season. Duke and State should be on roughly the same pace.

There has to be some way to accommodate historic rivalries.
