ACC Football Is On The Rise

It’s not theoretical anymore. The ACC has gotten brutally tough.

Luke DeCock has an article up arguing that, after several years of effort (maybe a lot more than that), ACC football has genuinely improved.

Teams will always have ups and downs but in general, the ACC is, from top to bottom, as tough as it has ever been and could have a bigger impact nationally than it has in anyone’s memory.

The funny thing is that it was started as a football conference but moved quickly (thanks to the four North Carolina schools and later Maryland) to a basketball focus.

All these years later, football has caught back up.

Clemson, Miami, Florida State and Virginia Tech are either national contenders or soon will be.

The more important point is this: there are no more easy outs. Clemson is better than anyone else and won’t lose often if at all but otherwise? Every Saturday is a crap shoot.
