The Bagleys have moved to Sacramento to help their son, former Blue Devil Marvin, transition to the NBA. It’s a wise decision. The on-court stuff is only part of the adaptation. The off-court life is much more difficult in many ways and has wrecked a lot of promising careers so kudos to the Bagleys for not just turning a minnow loose with the sharks.
As part of the process, Marvin’s 6-7 brother, Marcus, has transferred to Sacramento’s Sheldon High, where former Duke star DeMarcus Nelson went for his senior year.
It’s quite a gift for the team. Already accomplished, it adds another highly promising talent and can make a run back to the state finals.
Also worth noting: Sheldon has something fairly rare - a highly regarded Vietnamese-American point guard. Justin Nguyen is good enough to get serious D-1 attention. We’ve seen good Chinese players and of course Jeremy Lin, from a Taiwanese family, grew up in the states and became a solid NBA player. Vietnamese though? That’s fairly new ground.
