Obviously after the Canada trip there has been a lot of buzz about RJ Barrett and Zion Williamson and they were a lot of fun to watch - jaw droppingly fun at times.
This article suggests that Barrett is going to be more important because of his versatility, his maturity and his desire to win.
Coach K has a 12-letter word for guys like that that’s illegal in at least 49 states (we’re just not sure about Kentucky).
However, in Canada he was forced to play mostly out of position. He proved he could play point guard, not that there were many doubts, but it’s not where he’ll be most effective and Duke has a solid prospect there in Tre Jones.
What intrigues us here is this: what happens when you add in Jones and Cam Reddish, who both sat out the summer tour?
Leave Williamson out for the moment. Jones is going to be good and has everyone’s respect. Reddish can basically go wherever he’s needed and his versatility is as impressive as Barrett’s. And all three of those guys have outstanding all-around offensive skills with shot-making being the biggest question.
Watching the three of them manipulate the offense (and defense) is going to be something else. And then there’s Williamson, who proved in Canada that he is much more than just a dunker.
This is going to be a really, really fun basketball season for Duke fans.
