This is a pretty amazing thing to even think of.

NBA: Boston Celtics at Minnesota Timberwolves
Mar 8, 2018; Minneapolis, MN, USA; Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving (11) on the bench in the third quarter against Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center.
Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

This is a pretty cool story. If you didn’t know, Kyrie Irving has Native American ancestry. We had heard that, but we didn’t realize that his mother was actually born on the Standing Rock Sioux reservation (she was adopted at a young age).

Irving and his sister, Asia, went to the reservation Thursday and were welcomed into the tribe.

It’s hard to imagine what that must have been like. The Irvings lost their mother when they were very small and are meeting family they had no idea of and learning things that they could not possibly have anticipated. We hope there are a lot more stories about this as time goes on. It sounds like an amazing experience.
