NCAA Basketball: Preseason-Duke at Ryerson University
Aug 15, 2018; Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Duke University forward Javin DeLaurier (12) dunks for a basket against Ryerson University in a pre-season exhibition game at Paramount Fine Foods Centre.

Last year, Javin DeLaurier was arguably the most athletic player on the team. That’s not the case this year as Zion Williamson appears to be perhaps the most athletic player in the nation. However, you overlook DeLaurier at your peril.

He’s 6-9, highly mobile, potentially a superb rebounder and a tough defender.

As Coach K does his annual sifting and shuffling to find the best lineup don’t be surprised if he decides to look at a fast lineup with DeLaurier, Williamson, RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish and Tre Jones.

Jones would run the point and DeLaurier would have some offensive limitations, but that’s about as close to positionless basketball as the college game can get today and it could be absolutely devastating on the break, not to mention defense.

Here’s a closer look at DeLaurier and what he could offer Duke this year.
