There’s been sort of a trendlet lately of NBA guys working at summer camps and just destroying campers. A lot of this has been in blocked shots but former Blue Devil Jayson Tatum pulled a move on this kid that left him flat on his tuchus.
It was before the YouTube/Twitter era, but UNC radio man Dave Nathan told us this story. He was there when it happened.
Muggsy Bogues used to do a camp in Winston-Salem and Dave worked it. One camper, who was about 6-7, kept taunting Muggsy and finally the 5-3 Bogues had had enough.
He tossed the kid the ball and told him he had one play and to try whatever he wanted. So the kid decided he would dunk on Bogues.
Why not? He was just 5-3.
So he came down the lane and went up...and Bogues went up and blocked his shot mid-air. The kid, Dave said, went to get his stuff, left and never came back.
The great thing about these videos is that the kids thoroughly enjoy it and even the kids who get their shots blocked or ankles broke have a great story to tell for the rest of their lives.
