NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-First Round-Duke vs Iona
Mar 15, 2018; Pittsburgh, PA, USA; Duke Blue Devils forward Justin Robinson (50) dunks against the Iona Gaels during the second half in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament at PPG Paints Arena.
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Duke wraps up the three-game swing through Ontario and Quebec with a game in Montreal against McGill.

McGill is a pretty solid team apparently. The Redmen were 26-12 last year and lost in the their national tournament to the eventual champions.

McGill has played and lost to four NCAA teams before Duke - Mississippi, Cincinnati, South Dakota State and Vermont. The Redmen gave South Dakota State and Vermont pretty good games before falling. Last year they gave SMU fits too before falling in overtime.

They’re not shooting very well, just 32%, and are averaging 60 ppg.

McGill also has something that Duke cannot have, and that Coach K has said before he doesn’t really want: an insanely deep team.

There are 21 players listed on the roster. It’s a different country and system, and there’s a lot we don’t know about Canadian basketball, but 21 guys is too many for any basketball team. With 13 scholarship players, there are NCAA teams that have guys who don't even sniff the court. It can’t be easy. Coach David DeAveiro would have 11 guys watching even during a scrimmage.

As we say though, we don’t know much about their system. Obviously it works for them.

Game time is 3:00 and you can catch it on ESPN+.
