NCAA Basketball: Clemson at Virginia Tech

No matter what you think of Virginia Tech basketball, it’s hard to imagine anyone not seeing Buzz Williams as a massive improvement over his near-predecessor, Seth Greenberg (James Johnson had two inconsequential years between them).

He’s taken some of the nastiness off of the program that existed when Greenberg was there and made it resoundingly competitive.

Still, it seems like obstacles keep coming up, mostly untimely injuries.

This summer though it’s been player departures.

First, Tyrie Jackson transferred out to a JUCO. Then recruit Jarren McAllister decided to skip out on his commitment and play a year in prep school.

Then this week, somewhat bizarrely, Khadim Sy transferred - again.

He left last year too, transferring to Tallahassee Community College before heading back in December. He was going to sit out the rest of the season and be eligible this year.

Well, not now.

He’s heading back to JUCO, a different one this time, and we’ll see from there. We saw some promise in him as a freshman and that may transpire. We’ll have to wait and see now.

Again.
