ACC Kickoff is underway in Charlotte and Larry Fedora did not disappoint.

The UNC coach made clear he doesn’t buy a connection between football and CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy) despite the well-documented research supporting the link.

It reminded us of the tobacco executives when they testified before Congress and one after another denied that smoking caused lung cancer - something they knew perfectly well wasn’t true.

Fedora went them one better and tied football to America’s cultural survival.

It’s not the first time he’s been tone deaf: during UNC’s fraud he promised athletic success without even mentioning academics which kind of summed up UNC’s position on the scandal.

And speaking of UNC scandals, here’s another one, presumably smaller.

As for Duke, the defense is primed for a big year and thinks it can be exceptional. They’re probably right about that. It’ll be fun to watch that unit develop. We hope there aren’t too many injuries because it could be a great year.

As far as David Cutcliffe goes, he talked about punting, decommitments and depth. And check out who he first saw in concert.
