Portland Trail Blazers v Los Angeles Lakers

Looks like former Blue Devil Chris Duhon is getting a second chance: after losing his job as an assistant coach at Marshall after getting a DWI in 2017, Duhon has been hired at Illinois State where he’ll work for Dan Muller.

We have always liked Duhon but clearly alcohol has caused him significant problems and at least temporarily derailed his career.

We saw a similar situation at UNC with Phil Ford, who was as beloved as any Tar Heel has ever been. People were well aware of his problem but pulled for him until it became impossible to overlook it anymore.

At ISU, Duhon won’t get the same indulgence that Ford (should not have) got in Chapel Hill. We really hope and expect that he has learned a painful lesson. He can still rebuild his career but a repeat would almost certainly end it.
