Zion Williamson has been keeping a blog at USAToday and here’s his final entry as he prepares to graduate from high school on Friday.
There’s nothing revolutionary or surprising here. It’s a bright high school kid talking about his hopes for the future.
There are a few interesting points however:
- On being invited to try out for Team USA: “Any time I get a chance to wear that ‘USA’ across my chest is an honor for me so I’m really looking forward to that.”
- “Now that I’m away from home my dorm room will have the bare necessities; I’m not into excess.“ (Reminds us a bit of Mike Tyson’s minimalist approach as a young fighter)
- “I want to get to work with the trainers, nutritionists, and coaches to help develop my body and mind for the next level.“
The last part is also intriguing. Williamson is a physical freak but we don’t expect he’s done a lot of high-level athletic tweaking. Fine tuning his nutrition to get him in peak physical condition and giving his body an overhaul could make him a much more stunning athlete than he already is. We are really looking forward to seeing what he can do.
