It’s going to be fun for both teams to see these guys crank up.

The estimable Bob Holliday of Raleigh’s WRAL has this piece up on Triangle recruits for next season.

Okay, well, Duke and UNC targets. As a still-new coach, State’s Kevin Keatts has not yet landed a major recruit (not that it necessarily matters - he competed just fine at Wilmington with guys who weren’t seen as top-flight recruits and he proved himself a solid coach at the ACC level this season).

Anyway, his take on Duke recruits is interesting. He’s big on Tre Jones and likes the other three (RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish and Zion Williamson) as well.

There are a lot of good comments here but ponder this one quote from ESPN’s Paul Biancardi: “I have never seen an athlete like Zion Williamson; not even LeBron James at the same stage in his career.”

Williamson has the most interesting challenges to prove himself. He’s amazing athletic but as a number of people have pointed out, there’s no precedent for a guy like him. He’s a freight train when he’s highballing in the open court but we’ll have to see how his skills stand up to ACC competition. We don’t think his future is at guard, but if were us we’d have him learning guard skills just to round out his game.

Holliday is particularly high on Jones as are his future teammates. Williamson, Reddish and Barrett all recognize that he’s going to be driving the car and they’re eager for him to do it.
