NCAA Basketball: Final Four-Player and Coach of the Year Press Conferences

Mar 29, 2018; San Antonio, TX, USA; Virginia Cavaliers head coach Tony Bennett speaks after being presented the AP Coach of the Year award during a press conference at The Alamodome.
Robert Deutsch-USA TODAY Sports

We’ve learned by now that Tony Bennett is pretty brilliant at getting guys who fit his system so we’re sure that D.C. guard Casey Morsell (2019) will be solid at Virginia. But something is wrong when a kid can be #1 in D.C. and #194 in the country. No knock on Morsell, but it must be a down year for D.C. That’s so strange to read.

He seems pretty happy with his choice. His coach says that “[h]e’s felt good about it for a while, UVa’s done a great job recruiting him. He knows where he wants to be. I think he’s smart, going ahead and making it official.”

That’s great that he’s happy with his choice and Virginia has become a great program. And as an added bonus, they’re generally done early enough so that he can spend spring break with the rest of the Virginia students.
