People in North Carolina have known for a long time that Kinston is a pretty special place when it comes to basketball. There are the big names - Cedric Maxwell, Jerry Stackhouse, Reggie Bullock and Brandon Ingram - but there are so many others.

Per capita, Kinston has produced more NBA players than anywhere else in America.

This is a wonderfully well written piece on the town, it’s troubles and it’s remarkable production of great basketball players.

We have to say though the first few paragraphs were absolutely terrifying and it has nothing to do with basketball.
