Congratulations to future Blue Devil RJ Barrett as he and his Montverde teammates won the GEICO National boy’s basketball championship, defeating University School 76-58 to claim the title.

Defeated along the way: Frank Jackson’s alma mater, Lone Peak. Lone Peak was in position to pull an upset but pulled a Webber and called a timeout they didn’t have with the game tied and the clock down to 18 seconds.

After the game, Montverde coach Kevin Boyle said this about Barrett:

“He’s a winner. He won with Canada and the gold medal, he’s led us to an undefeated season, and he just has a knack for winning. He’s just fabulous.”
