We’ve talked before about our very low regard for Tucson columnist Greg Hansen and mentioned the incident following a UNLV game during the Lute Olson era and his subsequent suspension.

He was probably lucky to have kept his job and he’ll be lucky to keep it again after his massive misreading of the Sean Miller situation.

As you may recall, he came out and just ripped Miller after the ESPN report which claimed he had been overheard on an FBI wiretap discussing getting $100,000 to DeAndre Ayton.

Hansen came out with an article saying Miller should never coach college basketball again.

We linked to his articles since where he seemed to be climbing back off the ledge.

Well, he’s made it official now: his latest column is entitled “I blew it, and here’s why.”

Notably, he doesn’t apologize to Miller or Ayton, but his general groveling is worth noting.

We should point out that despite his backtracking and ESPN’s standing by the story in spite of multiple corrections, and despite Miller’s firm public statement, very few people have any idea about what the FBI actually has. Therefore it’s wise to reserve judgment.
