The Emergence Of Alex O’ Connell

Most famous for his jump shot and his hair so far, O’ Connell has shown he has the potential to be a major factor for Duke in many ways.

Alex O’ Connell didn’t get the publicity that some of his teammates got out of high school, but despite his thin frame he’s shown a lot of potential.

Most of it has been centered around his shooting though. That’s really valuable - three point shooting makes this team even more dangerous offensively because it opens up driving lanes - but it’s not all he is capable of.

O’Connell has shown lately that he is capable of a lot more. The defensive mind set of Duke’s best defenders is trickling down to everyone else and O’ Connell has improved there. He also thinks if called on, he could be the primary ball handler.

His emergence could make Duke a much, much tougher team to deal with.
