Football and basketball recruiting have really become quite different and in football, commitments are pretty meaningless because players change their minds so frequently these days.
Duke’s David Cutcliffe is not a big fan of this, arguing (correctly we think) that when a player announces a decision adults should respect it and leave him alone.
That wasn’t the case with cornerback Tony Davis, who committed to Duke early then got serious interest from other schools, including UNC and Tennessee.
In the end he stuck with Duke, but this is sort of a case study of the whole process.
