When you look at the BC-Sacred Heart score and see it was an eight point win you might be tempted to think big deal.

Well it was a solid win. Sacred Heart made it close late but BC was never in danger.

And here’s something striking: we’ve been really impressed with Virginia’s Kihei Clark, but maybe it’s time to talk about BC’s Wynston Tabbs too.

Scoring 28 points as a freshman, even against a Sacred Heart, is a very good sign.

Tabbs, a 6-2 guard out of Maryland, had a two point game against Wyoming and a nine point outing against Loyola.

Other than that, though, he’s scored in double digits in every game and it’s worth mentioning that in the Wyoming game, he fouled out in nine minutes so call it an off night all around (he hasn’t had more than two in any other game and in every other game he’s played at least 32 minutes).

Ky Bowman is getting some help which is great for BC: Nik Popovic had 14 off the bench along with six rebounds.

in the last three games he’s hit for 14, 18 and 14 and shot 20-30 in those games.

Bowman is still pulling heavy minutes - 37 per game - but he doesn’t have to play Superman and that’s good news for his entire team.

More good news: freshman Jairus Hamilton had 10 points and nine boards.

Only one game on Friday but don’t underestimate the passions between Duquesne and Pitt. It’s a rivalry game (called the City Game) and Duquesne is playing well so far as, of course, is Jeff Capel’s Pitt team.

The only loss by the Dukes was to Notre Dame and it wasn’t a bad loss really: Notre Dame won by just nine.

Pitt lost to Iowa by just one in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge and judging by this, the Panthers are ready to reassert their emerging winning culture.

When UNC loses in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, we can’t pass up Ol’ Roy’s comments. As you may remember, we try to chart Roy’s periodical sucidal references of which he’s made several over the years.

We don’t think he’s seriously considering it - we certainly wouldn’t make fun of it if we thought that - but he makes them often enough to understand that under the Huckleberry Hound exterior there are some powerfully dark emotions at work.

We haven’t seen one yet but with comments like these about what’s wrong - “[t]he job that the head coach is doing with this team. I’ve coached for 31 years, and right now my coaching sucks...Right now, we stink. I’ve got no positive things. If you want positive things, you’d better go out and find someone on the street. I’ve got no positive for me, no positives for my team” - it’s on the way soon.
