Duke quarterback Daniel Jones is 6-5, a superb passer and runs as well as any quarterback in college and better than most in the NFL.

Naturally this has caught NFL eyes and, should he decide to come out this year, he could be a first round pick and one of the top quarterbacks in the draft.

He’s fortunate to play for David Cutcliffe who not only understands the NFL side of things, but also has seen several talented quarterbacks go through the process.

He is superbly positioned to give Jones and his family advice no matter what they decide to do.

If you don’t recall, Jones came out of Charlotte Latin and after breaking his hand as a junior got no recruiting love at all. Princeton was certainly interested, then his coach sent Cutcliffe a video and, as soon as a scholarship opened, Cutcliffe brought Jones in and he’s been not just a good quarterback but a solid citizen as well. He was very fortunate to get an offer from Duke but Duke has been the more fortunate party. He’s been wonderful.

He’ll graduate in December so if he does leave, he’ll leave with a solid degree and a bright future wherever he ends up and whatever he does.
