After last week’s astonishing performance vs. #2 Kentucky, Duke moved from #4 to #1, jumping past Kansas to take the top spot despite Kansas not having lost.
This doesn’t happen very often but when it does, it tends to involve Kentucky and/or UNC for some reason, according to Adam Zagoria.
In 1977-78, UK moved past UNC to become #1. In 1980-81, DePaul did it to Kentucky and in 1983-84, UNC pulled past UK to become #1.
