For a 1-7 team UNC is talking a lot of smack. Tomon Fox, who along with Malik Carney were suspended for selling shoes, had this to say: “We’re (about) to put on a show for everybody. Yeah. Meet each other in the backfield.”
Well Duke might have something to say about that.
Obviously UNC wants this one badly, perhaps a little more than usual. The years when they could count on a Duke win are over and this year they haven’t been able to count on much at all.
Still, David Cutcliffe and UNC’s Larry Fedora are probably both right when they say UNC is not too far away.
It’ll be a typically intense Duke-UNC matchup.
On the other hand, while UNC may see this as their bowl game this year, Duke has a chance to really increase the misery and there’s something to be said for that when it comes to athletic rivalries.
