The collegiate facilities arms race is quite real and it’s not making everyone very happy as you’ll see here. Check out UNC A.D. Bubba Cunningham’s comments.

On the bright side, UNC could save money by just getting rid of unnecessary professors and going into paper classes full time. Hey, it worked for almost 20 years.

With a dose of common sense: Duke’s David Cutcliffe who isn’t overly impressed with some of the over-the-top facilities: “I’ve seen all of that stuff, and I guess it’s important, but you’d have to really get philosophical as to why that would be important. ... Where is it going? We should be investing in student-athletes. We should be investing in the experience, not creating ‘Moneyball,’ so to speak.”

Duke is very lucky to have this guy. He’s like the ultimately grounded football coach.
