The N&O Is Big On Jeff Capel Right Now

Kind of amazing to see this much in September on an assistant coach.

Three stories from the N&O all featuring Jeff Capel to some extent:

First, Coach K will be ready for the start of practice. Second is the standard who-will-follow-Coach-K storyline and Capel features prominently there too.

Finally, Capel, Roy Williams, Kevin Keatts and Andrew Moton offer up really bad recruiting stories. We’re curious about who Capel’s referring to in his: any ideas?

One of the great nightmare recruiting stories is from former Wake coach Dave Odom, when he was a UVA assistant.

We don't remember if head coach Terry Holland was there, but Odom at any rate was avidly recruiting Tom Sheehey and on a home visit.

On the way out, he ran over the family dog.

The dog did live actually, but you can’t do much worse than backing over someone’s pet.

The amazing part of the story?

UVA still got Sheehey.
