High School Basketball: Zion Williamson
Dec 20, 2016; Columbia, SC, USA; Spartanburg Day Griffins player Zion Williamson (12) during the game against the Gray Collegiate War Eagles in the Chick-fil-A Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament.
Jeff Blake-USA TODAY Sports

We’ve always said recruiting is like soap opera for guys and while it’s sometimes hard t sort through the B.S. to get to the real info, it seems like there’s a major development/ revelation in the Zion Williamson chase: his mom wants him nearby.

That’s bad news for Kentucky and Duke, worse for Kansas and UCLA, but really good for Clemson as it’s only about an hour from Spartanburg.

Unless the process has changed, a recruit’s parent or guardian has to sign his grant-in-aid. He wouldn’t be the first guy to have a parent refuse to allow him to go to a particular school and he surely wouldn’t be the last.
