Grant Hill left Duke in 1993 and while he’s not exactly hard to keep up with - he lives a pretty public life - it clearly amuses him somewhat that Coach K follows him on social media.

Hill: “Throughout the season at different points he’ll randomly send me a text and he’ll say things that make it clear he’s looking at my Instagram. He’ll say things like ‘oh I see you’re doing the 30-day challenge.’

“There’s usually some sort of humor attached to the message, that makes it clear he’s been looking at my social media. It’s smart. He’s dealing with young men, teenagers and he has to be able to connect with them and that’s how they connect.”

That’s all true but we’d like to make a suggestion that Hill may or may not have thought of.

Perhaps Coach K, something of an organizational genius, has someone who monitors social media for him and prints bits out and then he just responds to the few.

Somehow we can’t see him spending a great deal of time thumbing through Twitter and Instagram posts.
