Daniel Jones is off to a brilliant start at quarterback for Duke and his performance against Northwestern was one of the best a Duke quarterback has ever recorded.
Steve Wiseman spoke to the Blue Devil’s rising star and got some interesting stuff from him about his growth and Duke’s season so far, including some stuff he picked up from Peyton Manning when he was in town this summer:
“We talked about his preparation and how much time he put into that. He told a story about, in the Super Bowl (against Carolina in February 2016), he was playing a game with (linebacker) Luke Kuechly and going back and forth on the blitz and being able to recognize that and call a protection based on where the blitz is coming from. You get an idea of how prepared he was. How seriously he took that. That definitely had an impression on me.“
We’d be curious to know what Manning thought of Jones as well.
