Here’s an interesting question: Tyus Jones was a superb point guard as a freshman at Duke, leading the Blue Devils to a national championship in 2015. Could his brother Tre be better?
We won’t know the answer for a while yet but Tre has really come on and there’s a pretty good chance he’s surpassed Tyus in at least one area: he’s almost certainly a better rebounder.
That’s not a big deal as a point guard but it’s interesting. They may have some overlapping qualities - Tre is also turning into an elite point guard - but they’re not the same.
Tyus was (is) a better shooter.
Tre has one significant advantage over his brother at the same age: he’s working out every day with an NBA point guard (Tyus, in case that somehow got past you). That’s not something his older brother had.
But they share one key thing: both brothers really know how to run a team. Watching Tre develop is going to be fascinating.
Incidentally, for what it’s worth, the Crystal Ball overwhelmingly tilts towards Duke.
