Braxton Beverly could be a real steal.

State got a nice late pickup when Braxton Beverly, who committed to Ohio State but bailed when Thad Matta was let go, picked the Pack.

He’s a 6-0 point guard from Hazard, Kentucky who played at Hargrave. His former coach, A.W. Hamilton, is now a State assistant (he played at Hargrave for State coach Kevin Keatts).

He’s a point guard but the guy can definitely shoot - he hit 14 three pointers in one game at Hargrave and scored 70 points in that game, setting a school record.

He probably won’t start - Markell Johnson and Lavar Batts are probably going to be ahead of him in the rotation - but he’s another guy who can help.

He could always exceed expectations and at an absolute minimum, he adds another practice player (State’s not a particularly deep team).

Realistically though he should be better than that and possibly much better.
