John Calipari cut Duke’s Marques Bolden from the U-19 team Tuesday after he suffered a hip injury.
And he did it in a very nice way: he said afterwards that "I told these kids: We may be wrong. Please prove us wrong. Use this as fuel if you don't make the team."
Spoken like a man who may face some of them this year, like Sean Miller had to face a couple of his own cuts in the PAC-10.
Nonetheless, it was essentially kind and decent on the Kentucky coach’s part.
As for Bolden, the first thing is to hope that it’s not a serious problem. And assuming that it’s not, the only thing separating him from a tremendous sophomore year is hard work. We’ve seen no indication that he’s scared to put in the time and effort to get better so we’re pretty sure he’ll do what he needs to do.
