No telling if Jordan Tucker is going to sign with Duke but he set up a visit pretty fast: he’ll be on campus on Wednesday.
A native New Yorker, he’s now in Georgia. If he does sign with Duke, that would give the Blue Devils four guys from Georgia high schools (Wendell Carter, Alex O'Connell and Jordan Goldwire having already picked Duke), even if he was only there briefly. Three might be a first. We’re positive four would be.
Actually we can’t think of too many Georgians Duke has had before. Jim Suddath, who played for Bill Foster and briefly for Coach K, is the only one who comes to mind.
There’s probably no reason for this, but we’ve noticed lately that Duke tends to hit an area for a while and then go somewhere else.
Texas has been good to Duke in recent years (Matt Jones, Marques Bolden, Justin Robinson, Justise Winslow and Rasheed Sulaimon) as has Apple Valley, Minnesota (Thus Jones and Gary Trent, Jr.) and Virginia/DC (Javin DeLaurier, Quinn Cook, Tyler Thornton, Josh Hairston and Andre Dawkins) and Florida (Grayson Allen, Antonio Vrankovic and Austin Rivers). The Plumlees of Warsaw, Indiana, are kind of a special case but you get the idea.
Counting Tucker, if he chooses Duke, five players would hail from Georgia and Florida. The Crazies might have to look for a musical change of direction.
