NBA: New Orleans Pelicans at Denver Nuggets

Former Blue Devil Mason Plumlee, currently with the Denver Nuggets, is a free agent and he may have picked a good year to be one: by this sites’ reckoning, he could be the best center available.

That obviously means he could be in for a big payday. How big?

That depends on a lot of things, not least of all supply of centers and demand for them. Being tall is a permanent advantage in basketball but the game is moving away from traditional post players. That could work against Plumlee getting a big contract.

Still, in a few weeks, there’s a pretty good chance that Plumlee will have enough money to change his family’s fortunes for a few generations and maybe, just maybe, to pay his parent’s back for the food bill for three teenage seven-footers.
