Since firing Mark Gottfried, things have gone pretty well for State basketball. Kevin Keatts looks like a very promising coach, he picked up a solid prospect in LaVar Batts,
Ted Kapita left, but on the bright side, Abdul-Malik Abu returned and Omer Yurtseven pulled out of the draft.
The roster is, as Keatts has said, still in flux, but all in all things are looking up.
So while not getting a sixth year for Terry Henderson is a bad break for State and most of all Henderson, for the Pack it’s manageable.
Batts joins Torin Dorn, Markell Johnson, NC A&T transfer Sam Hunt, and Baylor transfer Al Freeman in a backcourt that Keatts will probably enjoy.
State may still add to the roster - it’s still thin and with some real question marks - but it’s not an awful group or anything.
As for Henderson? His reaction is admirable. He told the News and Observer that “I’m mature enough to go into the world. I’ve done a lot and been through a lot. I’ll be ready.”
