NCAA teams are allowed to take overseas trips during the summer once every four years and a lot of coaches use the opportunity to kickstart a young team and to goose the chemistry.
That sounds like what Duke is working on: the Blue Devils will be going to the Dominican Republic in August. That means they’ll get extra practice and playing time and since eight players left after last season, that’s going to be important.
Perhaps most of all it gives Trevon Duval a leg up in running his new team. Coach K is well known for developing tight relationships with his point guards and this is a good chance to accelerate that as well.
