Duke is a pretty disclipined and tightly run program but it’s not perfect. Things happen.

One of the minor things that happened several years ago, a small typo, may have worked out in Duke’s favor.

A home state recruit complained because Duke kept misspelling his name on recruiting letters.

We’re sure in retrospect that it was entered in the database incorrectly the first time and no one realized it.

He complained pubicly, and bitterly, that it wasn't that hard to spell his name correctly: P-J-H-A-I-R-S-T-O-N.

He was right of course, and we would guess that Coach K was probably not very happy with the oversight.

Of course that was then.

As it turned out, UNC spelled his name correctly and UNC got the headaches.

And while he’s been gone a while now, he’s still a UNC guy so when he gets in trouble, UNC always gets mentioned.

So it was Wednesday, when Hairston was arrested again, this time at Wrightsville Beach on four outstanding warrants in Chapel Hill for “harassing communications.”

That can’t be good.

On the bright side though, we bet the Wrightsville police spelled his name correctly. And when he gets back to Orange County, everyone there will too.
