NCAA Football: New Era Pinstripe Bowl- Indiana vs Duke
Dec 26, 2015; Bronx, NY, USA; Duke Blue Devils quarterback Thomas Sirk (1) drops back to pass against the Indiana Hoosiers during the third quarter in the 2015 New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium. Duke defeated Indiana 44-41 in overtime.
Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Thomas Sirk, whose career at Duke was greatly disrupted by two Achilles tendons injuries, has decided to transfer for his final season.

Coach David Cutcliffe is totally cool with the move and says this: “We are 100 percent supportive of Thomas and his decision to complete his eligibility at another school. I’ve said it many times before: Thomas is an incredible young man. He’s conscientious, dedicated and what I would consider the ultimate teammate due to his selflessness and leadership qualities. Thomas loves Duke. He and I have had great discussion regarding this decision, and his love for this university and everything it represents is what made this decision so difficult for him.”

He leaves Duke with great admiration and respect. He’s always been a great representative of Duke and even during his rehab, maybe even most of all during his rehab, he showed people what being a teammate was all about. His successor at quarterback, Daniel Jones, owes a lot of his early success to Sirk who did everything he could to make Jones successful.

We wish him the very best and will be watching him wherever he ends up.
